Kottakkal Ayurveda Chandanosiradi Kashayam

Chandanosiradi Kashayam is an Ayurvedic liquid medicine in herbal decoction form, used for Pitta balance. Chandana refers to sandalwood, Usira (Usheera) is Khas Khas grass. These two are the main ingredients in this medicine. 

Chandanosiradi Kashayam ingredients:

• Chandana – Santalum album / Pterocarpus santalinus Usheera – Khas Khas  – Vetiveria zizanioides
• Jalada – Musta – Nut grass (root) – Cyperus rotundus
• Laja – Parched rice
• Mudga – green gram – Vigna radiate
• Kana – Pippali – Long pepper fruit – Piper longum
• Yava – Barley

Method of manufacturing:
All the ingredients in coarse powder form is added with 8 or 16 parts of water, boiled and reduced to 1/4 or 1/8th part, filtered and preserved.

Chandanosiradi kashayam uses:

• It is traditionally indicated in
• Raktapitta  – bleeding disorders like nasal bleeding, Ulcerative colitis and menorrhagia  

Dosage:

• The dose is 12 – 24 ml, before food, at about 6 am and 6 pm or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
• It is usually advised to add equal amount of water to the kashayam.
• This Kashayam is traditionally advised along with Balamoola Kashaya.

Dose for children – 3 – 5 ml, mixed with equal or double quantities of water, once or twice a day, 15 minutes before food or as directed by Ayurvedic doctor.
